Workshop

The print workshop was previously the old cow barn at our property, Vitarelles. The workshop has facilities for Intaglio, Lithography, Monoprint, Woodcut and Linocut print processes.

We have a beautiful old Lithography press, made by D & J Greig in Edinburgh in the 1800s, plus litho stones and a levigator for grinding stones. Also in the print workshop is a Hawthorn etching press with bed size 54cm x 120cm for Intaglio processes such as etching, drypoint and aquatint. The etching press can also be used for linocut, woodcut, carborundum and monoprint printmaking techniques.

There are dedicated areas around the workshop for inking, paper preparation, a table for drawing and other preparatory work, as well as clean-up, plate preparation, and plate etching zones at the back of the workshop, well away from clean areas.
